“Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.”
– Leo Buscaglia
So the past week and a half I’ve forfeited my lunch and used flex time to coach at a city volleyball camp. The other day one of the girls noticed that I always come in with my work clothes and change back after we’re done. She asked why I did that and I told her I care so much that I skip my lunch, come here and then race back to work. She then asked where I work and what I do and when I told her I was a social worker I swear her eyes lit up and she just kept saying “wow”! I don’t think I’ve ever had anyone look at me with so much admiration! I was really surprised at her reaction (Although I shouldn’t have been shocked because Social Workers, coaches and teachers are really on super hero levels), but it truly warmed heart. As tired as I am sometimes, as much as I complain, and think about all the other things I could be choosing to do with my time..I’m glad volleyball somehow always keeps choosing me…
