So I wrote this poem in high school. Back when I didn’t even know what love really was. But I clearly knew how it felt to not have my feelings reciprocated. Taught me a valuable lesson in self love. Cuz how can someone love me, how can I love someone, if I don’t even know how to love? A lesson that I am learning everyday. Loving others. Loving myself. As imperfect as I am. As God created me and loves me unconditionally…

It’s like life is moving so slow
It’s basically not moving
Stuck like quick sand slowly sinking.
When love don’t love you back
You start thinking about regrets
Things you wish you did or said
Things you wish you didn’t say or do
All the shoulda coulda wouldas start coming into view
When love don’t love you back
You start questioning
Reality strikes and depression sets in
Self Doubt, low self-esteem and insecurities begin.
When love don’t love you back
It’s like why even bother
Wouldn’t dare love another
Can’t do it all again
Don’t wanna start over
When love don’t love you back
You become bitter and start hatin’
The next one they with you start compare n and rate n
Sayin they downgraded, Talking all this mess
But really on the sideline, waitin for your chance to slip in and shine
When love don’t love you back
It’s like you become incomplete
You gave your heart away and all you have is the pieces
Broken hearted and mad
Lonely and said
Tons of emotions and not one of em glad
When love don’t love you back
That’s just how it is
One-sided sometimes
Pointless to stay but hoping things will change!

Just man up and take it
Get up and move on
Cuz eventually some one else will come along
Learn to let go
Learn to LET THEM love you!
